Y’all. The HBIC is trending again, and honestly? It’s about time the internet gave Tiffany “New York” Pollard her flowers while she can still roast people with them.
The woman who invented reality TV drama is having a whole viral week — a scene-stealing turn on Celebrity Weakest Link, a 20-year Flavor of Love reunion moment with Deelishis breaking the internet’s group chat, and rumor-mill whispers of a Big Brother return. Let’s get into it, because New York deserves a recap as dramatic as she is.
“I Prefer Men With Necks” — The Weakest Link Villains Episode
Monday night (September 21), FOX premiered season 2 of Celebrity Weakest Link with a cast that reads like a supervillain team-up: Richard Hatch, Omarosa, Tiffany Pollard, Bob the Drag Queen, Tom Sandoval, Monica Garcia, Big Ed, and Christine Quinn, all competing under host Jane Lynch. (Episodes stream the next day on Hulu.)
And New York? She ate.
First, she voted out Big Ed from 90 Day Fiancé with the line that launched a thousand reaction videos: “I prefer men with necks.” Jane Lynch, deadpan as ever, announced: “Big Ed from 90 Day Fiancé, I hope you enjoyed your 90 seconds on our show. With six votes, my dear, you are the weakest link. Goodbye.” The camera zooming in on the neck during the vote is already meme history. Some folks online said it was mean-spirited; the rest of us said it was vintage New York — the same energy that made her famous in 2006, just with better lighting.
She also gave us a 10-second clip nobody can stop watching: asked which instrument you’d avoid if you want to attract the ladies, New York confidently answered “That is a harp” — then corrected herself — “Nope, it’s an accordion.” It was the accordion. She knew it was the accordion. And somehow that’s the most endearing thing she’s done on television.
Oh, and she also answered “Titanic” when asked for the shipping company UPS. The HBIC giveth, and the HBIC giveth memes.
For the record, Tom Sandoval ended up winning $50,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation — but let’s be real, New York won the internet.
20 Years of New York x Deelishis
Meanwhile, on the nostalgia side of the timeline, Flavor of Love is having a full-blown 20th anniversary moment — the show premiered back in January 2006 — and the New York vs. Deelishis rivalry is all over feeds again.
If you know, you know: Tiffany “New York” Pollard and Chandra “Deelishis” Davis defined the pink-versus-blue, love-her-or-hate-her war that made Flavor of Love one of VH1’s highest-rated shows ever. Deelishis won season 2; New York won reality television forever.
The viral meme of the week? That iconic clip of the two of them sitting back-to-back on a bench — New York in pink, Deelishis in blue, both looking like they’d rather be anywhere else — repurposed as “the balloons inside the box at the gender reveal.” The pink balloon hates the blue balloon. It is, objectively, the funniest use of that footage in years.
And creators are posting straight-up “New York x Deelishis” 20-year tributes with #FlavorOfLove and #FlavaFlav all over them. Twenty years later and these two women are still the blueprint. Everybody else is just a photocopy with the contrast turned down.
Wait, There’s More?
Because apparently one viral week isn’t enough, Digital Spy reported on September 19 that Pollard is tipped for a shock return to Big Brother. Nothing confirmed, but between this, the Weakest Link episode, and the Flavor of Love anniversary wave, the girl is booked and busy.
A Quick HBIC Refresher (For the Young Ones)
For everyone who found New York through a meme and stayed for the mess: Tiffany Pollard debuted on Flavor of Love in 2006, where Flavor Flav himself gave her the nickname “New York.” She was the runner-up in both seasons she appeared on — robbed, some say — and parlayed it into I Love New York, New York Goes to Hollywood, New York Goes to Work, Celebrity Big Brother UK, House of Villains, and about a hundred quotables.
Her greatest hits include coining HBIC (Head Bitch In Charge — she said what she said), the loogie heard ’round the world (Pumkin spitting in her face at the season 1 elimination, an all-time reality TV moment), and the reunion-show classic: “My ass been on pause, but I’m ’bout to press play in a motherf***in’ millisecond.”
She didn’t just appear on reality TV. She is reality TV’s origin story.

Where to Watch Flavor of Love
Twenty years later and the whole mess is still streaming. Here’s where to catch all 3 seasons:
- Peacock — all 3 seasons streaming
- Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, fuboTV — streaming
- Free with ads — Pluto TV, Tubi, The Roku Channel, Plex, Amazon’s free-with-ads tier
- YouTube — yes, the whole first season is up in full episodes on the Banijay Reality channel (the rights holder’s own uploads), so you can watch the HBIC’s origin story for free
- Buy/rent — Apple TV Store, Amazon Video, or DVD if you’re nostalgic and committed
Final Word
Twenty years after Flavor Flav handed her a nickname instead of a clock, Tiffany “New York” Pollard is still the moment. She walked into a FOX game show full of reality TV villains and walked out as the only one the memes exempted — “nightmare blunt rotation (except NY).”
The HBIC doesn’t chase relevance. Relevance chases her. 💅
