Big Brother 28: Yash’s $5K Bribe Backfires in Messy Week 10

Week 10 of Big Brother 28 is the exact kind of mess I live for. Yash Patel just won Head of Household for the second time this season, and sis, the bill for that $5,000 came due — hard.

Quick catch-up for anyone not glued to the live feeds: back in Week 7, Dee Valladares handed Yash five thousand dollars in an on-air twist the show literally calls the BB Bribe. Per live-feed reporting from The Things and northjersey.com, the deal meant Yash had to keep the three “Icons” — Dee, Rick Devens, and Angela Murray — safe the next time he won HOH. Angela was evicted last Thursday, so this week that protection covered Dee and Devens, leaving Yash only four rookies to pick from.

He nominated Drew Campbell, Melody Morris, and Barrett Pfeiffer — the remaining members of the F.A.P. alliance, per The Things — with Drew as his target. That was the Friday ceremony. By Monday, it had all gone spectacularly sideways.

And let’s not forget how we got here: last Thursday, outgoing HOH Barrett tried to take a shot at all three Icons at once, but Devens won the BB Block Buster, Yash won the veto and left noms the same, and then Yash and Taylor flipped the vote to send Angela Murray to jury 3-2 instead of Dee. So Yash walked into Week 10 already looking like Dee’s soldier — and then won the HOH that made it official.

The Pressure Cooker That Broke the Record — and Yash’s Plan

Saturday into Sunday, the house played the legendary Pressure Cooker for the Power of Veto, and it ran 14 hours and 19 minutes — the longest competition in Big Brother history, per OnlineBigBrother’s live-feed tracking. One by one they dropped: Dee first, then Melody, then Devens, then Barrett after more than 13 hours. It came down to Drew and a sick, exhausted Yash.

According to northjersey.com’s feed reporting, the two cut a deal before Yash stepped down: Drew agreed not to nominate or renominate Yash during a future HOH reign, and not to vote out Taylor Brown if she stayed on the block. Yash dropped around 2:48 a.m., and Drew took the veto. A deal’s a deal — but that handshake had consequences Yash could see coming a mile away.

Yash Was Forced to Nominate His Own Bestie

Drew used the veto on himself at Monday’s ceremony — obviously — and that left Yash living out the nightmare scenario he had literally warned Taylor about: because the BB Bribe still protected Dee and Devens, and Melody and Barrett were already nominated, his only eligible replacement nominee was his number-one ally, Taylor Brown. Per Parade’s Week 10 breakdown, the final block heading into Thursday’s double eviction is Barrett, Melody, and Taylor.

The Things also reported that Yash had been telling the house Devens wasn’t covered by the bribe — a lie that fell apart the second his renom options laid the whole arrangement bare. In fan comment threads, viewers have been calling the whole thing shady for days, and honestly, it’s fan speculation at this point whether the house can ever trust a word out of his mouth again. What isn’t speculation: that $5K cost him every ounce of flexibility in the biggest week of the season.

Thursday Is a Double Eviction: Seven Goes to Five

Tonight’s Wednesday episode shows the Pressure Cooker fallout on TV, and then Thursday, September 17 is the two-hour live double eviction Julie Chen Moonves dropped on them last week: first eviction from this block, then a brand-new HOH, a lightning-round veto, and a second eviction — all in one night. Seven houseguests walk in; five walk out. Angela Murray and LaTrice Verrett are the jury so far, and two more join them Thursday.

Per Parade, Barrett is in a do-or-die spot: if he doesn’t win the BB Block Buster, the Icons’ votes likely send him to jury as the third member. If he clutches it, Melody becomes the likely next target as the house tries to crack the F.A.P. trio for good.

Look — I’m not saying Yash is dumb. Five thousand dollars is real money. But he took that cash to play an HOH he had to spend protecting people who will vote against his own allies, and he ended the week putting his best friend on the block. That’s not a deal, sis. That’s a donation with extra steps. I’ll be watching Thursday with snacks.
